Great Wii Games for Kids and Families
The Nintendo Wii is a popular console with families. Unlike other consoles that mainly cater to adult gamers, the Wii offers something for everyone. In fact, kids Wii games are some of its most popular titles.
The games for kids on the Wii are free of graphic violence and adult subjects. Your child can play these games and be completely safe from unsuitable content. Plus, the games are easy enough for kids to play without supervision.
Here are just 10 of great Wii games available for kids, starting with ones most suitable for the youngest players. Further down this page are some excellent games for the whole family to play.
"Great for preschoolers. They will need some help navigating through menus and when something new appears on the screen, but this is one game they should be able to play mostly by themselves.
Grown-ups can join in using the Dinosaur Guide Helper Feature and a second controller."
The Complete Saga
"An awesome game for families. Two people can play together through the story. Very easy to pick up and play. Cute Lego characters and funny moments.
If you like Star Wars, LEGO, or just want something you can play with a younger child, this is a great one. If you like this, check out the LEGO Batman and Indiana Jones games."
"Excellent game, all the characters are in the game!
You start out as Woody galloping on Bullseye then you're on a crazy train ride to save the orphans, you can go in Woody's room with Buzz and choose which character you want to be, so my daughter is always Jessie."
"An excellent introduction to the action/adventure genre for younger gamers. Older kids and adults might not enjoy it as much as younger children."
"Although the DS version is great for really young kids, this version is better for kids 7+, since it is more of a platformer where you color at the same time."
"You live in a town and earn money to upgrade your house and items. You also talk to your animal neighbors. Lots of customization. Simple but addictive and fun. If you've already played the GameCube or DS version, you might not want to get this, as it is very similar. If you enjoyed this, try out Rune Factory."
"All in all, I highly recommend this game to every Wii owner. This is the type of game the Wii was designed for. Despite it's cutesy art style and kid-friendly atmosphere, Boom Blox series isn't a gimmick like a lot of junk shoveled out onto the Wii.
Hard core gamers will find an amazing amount of depth and challenge while casual gamers, parents, and families will find an accessible game that almost anyone can pick up and have fun with."
"A great Pokemon-like game that is geared towards older children, but can be enjoyed by all. Lots of battles with monsters!"
"A fun, quirky game for everyone. Zack and Wiki is hard to find sometimes, but buy it used and you won't regret it! Challenging puzzles for all ages with cute characters.
This is single player but if you hook up more remotes people can point out objects on the screen and everyone can solve the puzzles together. You'll use your brain a lot playing this one. One of my favorites."
"The games are probably not what serious gamers would prefer, but our family isn't full of serious gamers - we just want to play some simple games and have fun.
Wii Play fits the bill; fun for the adults, simple enough for the 5-year-old."

My 10 year old is desperate for a Wii. If she ever convinces my parents or us to get her one, I will be back here to use these reviews to make a selection of games.
